Rap and Hip Hop on the theatre stage? No problem for Laetitia and Janice from the Parisian banlieue. In "Du Sale!!" they bring eloquent social criticism and empowering popping choreographies to the stages of the Theatre Festival Basel. We offer a workshop where you learn how to spontaneously and playfully write and process impressions, thoughts and emotions into song lyrics.


The workshop will be led by the Basel rapper KimBo, who performs in Swiss German and Italian and repeatedly deals with feminism in her texts. Among other things, she co-wrote the Basel womenstrike song. KimBo gives rap workshops for young adults at HitProducer.

Workshop with Rimini Protokoll

On Rimini Protokoll: "Chinchilla Arschloch, waswas"

In this workshop Christian Hempel (performance) and Cornelius Puschke (dramaturgy) present perspectives that were important for the development of "Chinchilla Asshole, waswas". By providing insights into the genesis of the play and through some tryouts, they focus on the normativity of the theatre apparatus and discuss with the participants the concept of "Ableism", i.e. the devaluation of people due to lack of skills.

Concerned about sharing her passion, Sandrine Lescourant works on teaching method around improvisation trough exercises and playful subject.

She’s sharing her pedagogic approach in different countries, builds on her experience on stage and also grounded in hip hop underground scene where she experiments and is acknowledges. Her way is to develop compositions, imaginary grounds to enable dancers to discover new inspirations and to evolve through many tools. The aim of her workshop is to teach while focusing on the uniqueness of each.

Master Class with Florentina Holzinger

Choreographer "TANZ"

The common physical training (from martial arts/kickboxing, functional training, somatics, yoga etc) is a main focus of Florentina's work and should be the basis for the work in the workshop.

The training challenges the participants physically and mentally and immediately deals with questions of physicality in performance and the limits of art. In this workshop, Florentina wants to deal with mechanisms from stunting and action films and dissect them together, as well as break down to technical aspects and examine whether something (and what) 'new' can be created.
