Morocco | Dance
Hmadcha, Hors du Monde
As a child Taoufiq Izeddiou, dancer, choreographer and pioneer of contemporary Moroccan dance, once took part in a Hmadcha ritual: a Sufi ceremony in which participants fall into a trance by dancing. In the theatrical performance of the same name, he now explores this spirituality outside a religious context. Together with nine performers, he focuses on how dance can create a universe on stage in which physical performance becomes a poetic and authentic act.
Tour in cooperation with La Bâtie-Festival de Genève
